I mean for fuck's sake... They Refused to let Joel work on the sequel because he wanted to have the sequel be 'The Lost Girls', but WB shot him down because it 'wouldn't go over well'... Then years later they turn around and make THIS crap?! I mean seriously, They couldn't keep the damn effecs the same, nor ANY of the damn continuity, what the FUCK are they trying for?! If they wanted to make something NEW and not pay ANY attention to ANY of the established canon, they should just make a NEW god damn movie. Don't claim it's something else and fuck it up like this.
Watching the previews as I have, I probably will horribly torture myself my watching it at least once, ideally while completely drunk. Drunk enough I forget that they are trying to claim this POS film is a 'sequel' to my favorite film of all time.
Yes (M and G should note this down in their 'I TOLD YOU SO' history books), I KNOW The Lost Boys wasn't a 'Good' film, not really by a long shot... Though it DID do well for itsrlf in the theatre, that WAS back in 1987... But it is MY favorite never the less. And anymore it's not even the fact they made a crappy sequel that bothers me.
It's the fact they are ROYALLY fucking up EVERY OUNCE of canon facts they laid down in the first film.
So, No. Just Fuckin' NO.
That's not a damn sequel, It's a useless hack attempt at mooching off the limited popularity of the origional, and probably INTENTIONALLY so, as undoubtedly our (the fans of the first) outrage and freaking out over it all over the damn 'net is just giving them endless damn amounts of free publicity.
