*wistful sigh*
Jun. 3rd, 2007 08:16 pmLots of things to say, But I'm at a loss for words...

Read the post on the main page for May 15th 2007... It should be the 3rd one down and the bigger post on the page...
...I first ran into these ships and their crew... *thoughtful look* Actually about just shy of 4 years back... Before I was 18 and thus, I was not able to join up with them at the time (As you must be at least 18)...
I had a bunch of high and low points in life rather abruptly thereafter... So I lost the information and got destracted... But I remember that day rather a bit more clearly than I remember much... Mom, in a fit of decidedly appriciated mom-like behavior had drug me out to see these ships when they were docked in St. Hellens at 8am, it was rainy and overcast, but the second I caught sight of the two ships, The Lady Wahington and her companion The Lynx (at the time), I was so overwhelmed and destracted that I didn't even notice the rain... We spent HOURS walking the ships (And to be honest, that says alot, as they are a bit smallish. *grin* But I love them) All I could do all day was stare at them in complete facination... The small amused feeling at the quiet, verry slight motion of the docked ship beneath my feet, staring up at the lines and Rigging, trying to trace each line along it's specific path with just my eyes, but getting lost amid the hundreds of others...
( Pictures of the the lines, the ones I tried to count that day. )
*amused grin mixed with a look of longing* I cherish the few good pictures I got that day...
The one above a the Next three under the LJ cut are my favorites...
( Pictures of several views from the ship... Ones that made me want something more in life... )
*amused grin*
there was a lot to that day... But I wouldn't trade that day, nor the one I spent just yesterday (06/02/07) Aboard the Lady Washington and her new companion the Hawaiian Chieftain... I spent 4 hours aboard those ships, all of it spent talking to the crews of both... But mostly to the crew of the lovely Hawaiian Chieftain... Much fun, much information, and mostly? Rekindled that odd feeling of longing and a definate desire to do more with my life... THIS kind of 'more'... THIS kind of life...
Go read the post for May 15th 2007 on the lovely web address for The Lady Washington If you don't get what I'm talking about... Maybe then you will?
*shrugs*
I've been told by several people lately, every time I talk about it in fact... The only ones that think I could do this and suceed without giving up are my Mother, and the Crew of the Hawaiian Chieftain... Everyone else has opinions... *shrug* Everyone else ALLWAYS has opinions... *amused look* Go figure?
But, All I know is this. I WANT to try this, I WANT to do this... To be 100% honest? Even the tip to California I had wanted to take (But can't due to a lack of ANY funds) Becomes EXTREMELY silly and unwanted in comparison to this... And I thought I wanted that more than anything...
*thoughtful look* No Idea what that means... but I know It means I really REALLY want to do this...
... Now just to (Again...) Try to save up money and gather the necicary supplies... *thoughtful look* And as far as 'supplies' go all I need is some good Rain/Foul weather Gear... A Rigging Knife (and they told me how to improvise one on the cheap), a duffle bag to keep my clothes and stuff in, and a good pair of sandals and other secure shoes... (Both the Sandals and 'Other Shoes' Should be verry secure)... *plotting look*
Now just to obtain all this...
The _Real_ Pain and diffacult item to obtain? The $500 dollars to sign up for the 'Two weeks before the Mast' Volunteer Apprenticeship Program. (After that program you become a member of the Group/Crew and can come back and Volunteer for FREE whenever, so it pays off more than adequitely if I go back alot... Which I am allready foolishly planning on...)
I just _know_ That I'm going to get a chorus of "GET A JOB" from nearly everyone... And I'm still frekking trying that as well... *sigh* Damn useless temp agencys...
Maybe _this_ Week I'll finally get off my ass, get over my fear and see about Donating Plasma for $$...
*wanders off, looking thoughtful*
